This is for all you yankee’s who tell me I can’t say “about” properly.Listen Here

Busy! Busy! Month.

I thought that I should probably update you all since I’m going to be super swamped in the upcoming month.  Things have been moving really quickly over the last 2 months for me and I’ve been struggling to find the time to update all of you.  Readership for this blog has hit an all time high, but for some reason I am not completely sure that I trust my stats software that is running right now…  But, here is to hopping that it is… Cheers!

Online Business Card Printing, and other Assorted Print Media

One of the first things I get asked when doing a website for a new company is if I know a great place around town to get business cards, and advertisements printed.  Unfortunately, I don’t know anywhere around town, but I do know of some great resources online.  It turns out that most of these companies offer affordable printing for most your needs. By affordable, I really mean, a hell of a lot cheaper than anything in my neck of the woods.  I’m in the process of  moving all of my needs to one of these companies, but I have heard great things about all of them around the internet.  Check them out if you’re in need of some new business cards. PNG Support in Microsoft Word (Windows Edition)

So, I think I just stumbled upon another reason why Microsoft sucks hard.  I had sent a transparent png to a client at his request so he could use his logo in a word file he was putting together.  I just received and email telling me that it’s not transparent at all, and that instead of transparency it loads a grey box around his logo. Do any of you know anything about transparency issues in Microsoft word?  Let me know, josh [ dot ] schnell [at]gmail[dot]com. Thanks!

Not much to say right now…But Twitter is Pissing me off.

Not much going on right now.  I’ve been focusing on school lately since I have finals coming up in two weeks for a couple of courses, and we all know what that means… EXAMS!  Yuck.  So, I haven’t really been keeping myself up to date with the happenings around the internet.  But, one thing has been really pissing me off lately. Twitter has been lagged, busted, and over all pretty pathetic lately.  For those of you not in the know, twitter is a kinda microblog.  People can post from there cellphone brief updates through out their day, or random thoughts as they pop into your head.  It’s kind of addicting and a hell of a lot of fun.  I actually compare it frequently to the status bar in msn, the only exception being you can receive all of those to your cellular device on the fly.  Anyway, it doesn’t work now, and i’m left without it… I  think i’m addicted to it… actually, I know i’m addicted to it.

And the rogers woe’s continue…

I finally got around to checking the documentation of the new phone that was sent out because of my ongoing debacle.  I should reiterate that because of the amount of problems i’ve had with the phone they decided they’d send me a new one without having to resign and update my contract.  Well…guess what.  In bold letters, I read today, “Your new three year plan* has started”… uggh… NO!

So, once again I got on the phone and called their help line. I asked to be transferred immediately to customer relations.  Luckily, I was transferred to a super nice lady, unlike last time, who was really helpful.  They put my contract back to a 2008 end date… Thank GOD!  Thanks goes out to Anne (621362) for making this easy to deal with. I wish your company employed more people like you, and less like Sunny (the last lady), if they did, I might even be willing to resign a new contract, but they dont…so I won’t.

Man, this is turning into an anti-rogers blog! hopefully that end’s soon.

Are you kidding me…

As most of you are aware I am taking my final courses through an online program with Athabasca University. I generally love it, but every so often I come across something that really pisses me off. Read the rest of this entry »

Checking Drive health in OS X Server 10.4.10 from Terminal

In my quest to use VNC less I’ve come across as pretty helpful command line application to check the health of my server’s disk drives. It’s pretty handy and works well with both OS X Server, and regular OS X 10.4.10. Most of the problems I seem to encounter have to do with messed up file permissions in OS X Tiger, so this comes in really handy for me. Hopefully it will help you out as much as it did for me. Rogers Wireless Pt. 2

So, most of you probably read my last post regarding rogers wireless from back in June, and the run around I’m getting almost monthly. Well… I’m back in it today! So, the last post ended with me sending in my phone for a second straight time to have it repaired, and that’s where we resume this sad tale of deceit! So, upon returning it a second time to be fixed, it came back and worked resonablely well…for three days! Read the rest of this entry »

Posting to twitter with Quicksilver, Twitterific, and a script.

The more I use quicksilver the more I love it. It’s so complicated it can be daunting at times, but its time well spent. Today, I spent some time trying to streamline some of the things I do on my laptop without having too many windows open. I stumbed across an interesting article that lets you post to twitter with quicksilver.
